Bring the distinctive character of the Pianet T to your music. Originally designed in the 1970s, this iconic electro-mechanical reed piano delivers a uniquely tactile sound somewhere between a piano, electric piano, and guitar amp.

Unlike traditional pianos, the Pianet T’s reeds aren’t struck. Instead, specially designed suction pads grip each reed and release it to produce its characteristic vibration. Individual electromagnetic pickups then capture those vibrations, creating a complex sound built from countless harmonics and sine-wave components.

Our ACE® physical modeling recreates this intricate mechanism in real time—from the reeds and pickups to the mechanical noises, decay, amplification, speakers, and room. The result is a deeply expressive instrument that captures both the charm and imperfections of the original.

Under the hood, an optimized approach inspired by Bhāskara I’s sine approximation helps us reproduce the instrument’s complex harmonic behavior efficiently, giving you the character of a vintage electro-mechanical piano without unnecessary CPU overhead.
